Date: July 28, 2013
99th Anniversary of the Start of ‘The Great War’
July 28, 1914 – November 11, 1918
Location: Albuquerque Shooting Range Park
50 – 500 Meter / 300 – 1,000 Yard Range
Weather: Sunny / Partly Cloudy; 93 degrees; 5 to 10 MPH winds (West to East)
Ranges / Positions at which the Match was shot at:
500 Meters: Shooters Discretion
385 Meters: Shooters Discretion
300 Meters: Shooters Discretion
200 Meters: Shooters Discretion
Note:
The positions the shooter wished to shoot at was left to their discretion which could be prone supported or un-supported, kneeling, sitting or offhand.
Sand Bags stacked two or three high and / or a basic three point front rifle rest were used for those who shot in the prone supported position on which only the forearm of the firearm could be laid upon. No back rest or bags were allowed to be used to support the buttstock at firing position.
(Each shooter was allowed to shoot the course of fire twice with the highest score counting as the ‘Official Match Score’)

Targets Used:
385 and 500 Meters: 45” long by 29” wide, ½” steel which simulates the NRA High Power MR-1 Target – “Target, Rifle, Competition Mid-Range” minus the 5 Ring.
200 and 300 Meters: 29” wide (round), ½” steel which simulates the NRA High Power
SR – Military, “Target, Rifle, Competition Short-Range” minus the 5 Ring.
Note:
All targets were painted solid black with a white 10” circle in the center of the target which was used as reference as to where the hits on the target accrued.

Rounds per Course of Fire
5 rounds were fired at every stage (200, 300, 385 and 500 meters), no sighting-in rounds were allowed to be fired during the course of fire.
Note:
No sighting-in rounds were allowed as we were simulating an enemy force that was moving down range from 500 to 200 meters during a moving ‘Battlefield Engagement’ to a static ‘Trench Defensive Position at 200 meters.
A direct hit on the target was scored as one point; a miss or ‘Alibi’ (unused) rounds that were not fired during each course of fire were scored as a zero.
All scores were confirmed by the use of a spotter and scorer.

Firearms Used:
The firearms used in this match were all unmodified, originally configured service military weapons that were or still are issued in the world’s standing armies that were issued to the ‘ordinary soldier’, who used or are using these firearms in those various armies in both the past and present. The sights on the firearms are all as-issued ‘iron sights’ that were standard to the firearms being used which does not include in any aftermarket, target, match adjustable or micrometer sights as these were not issued to the ordinary soldier.
No Scoped military ‘Sniper’ rifles were used in this match.
