{"id":3117,"date":"2022-10-06T15:16:39","date_gmt":"2022-10-06T21:16:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newmexicoshootingsports.com\/shootingblog\/?p=3117"},"modified":"2022-10-06T15:19:57","modified_gmt":"2022-10-06T21:19:57","slug":"future-nics-enhancement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newmexicoshootingsports.com\/shootingblog\/future-nics-enhancement\/","title":{"rendered":"Future NICS enhancement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Wanted to share the following mailing from the FBI regarding background checks on those 18-20yo.\u00a0 This is another baby step towards the loss of rights.\u00a0 This is the Biden administration.\u00a0 Look at how they sugar coat it by calling it an &#8220;enhancement&#8221;.<\/strong> <strong>Remember that, vote right!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>*******************************<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the passage of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) of 2022, signed into law on June 25, 2022, the NICS Section is working towards the implementation of an <em><u>enhanced<\/u><\/em> background check process for persons between the ages of 18-20.\u00a0 The enhancement provides the opportunity for additional outreach and research to be conducted regarding the existence of any juvenile adjudication information and\/or mental health prohibition.\u00a0 As a result, transactions on persons between the ages of 18-20 will initially be delayed.\u00a0 In order to conduct the aforementioned outreach and research, the address of the individual will be collected so that the appropriate local and state entities may be contacted.\u00a0 All descriptive information, including address, will follow normal purge requirements (i.e., deleted from NICS within 24 hours of the FFL receiving a proceed status.)\u00a0 If potentially prohibiting juvenile information is uncovered, the BSCA allows for the delay period to extend up to ten business days.\u00a0 However, if no potentially prohibiting information is located, the transaction will be proceeded as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>The NICS Section is working in collaboration with numerous other entities in the implementation of all aspects of the BSCA and will keep you informed as additional guidance becomes available.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wanted to share the following mailing from the FBI regarding background checks on those 18-20yo.
