Important New Mexico Legislation Upcoming! ALERT!

Important legislation is coming up here in New Mexico that you need to be aware of and act on if you want the best outcome!

The proposed legislation pre-filed for the upcoming legislative session (begins at noon on January 17, 2017) relating to firearms.

Three relate to criminal sentencing (HB 17, 19, 52); two are companion bills (HB 50 and SB 48, same for both House and Senate) relating to background checks for private transfer of firearms; and one is a joint resolution calling for an amendment to the state constitution establishing the right to carry a concealed firearm without a permit for persons 18 years and older.

Also, two more bills have been pre-filed:

SB 56 Concealed Carry Eligibility appears to make concealed carry legal in NM without having first obtained a CCW license

HB 62 CCW Expiration requires the Department of Public Safety to notify license holders at least 60 days before license expiration
