conducted at Albuquerque Shooting Range Park (ASRP)

Safety — Everyone must comply with all Park rules and with instructions of the ASRP Manager and staff. Firearms may not be brought to the firing line until the match director has called the line hot. All firearms, cased or not, must be carried straight up between the line and your vehicle.

Dates – January 5, February 2, April 6, May 4, June 1, Aug 3, Sept 7, Oct. 5, Nov 2, Dec. 7, state championship June 1-2, 2018
Location – Albuquerque Shooting Range Park, (505-836-8785). Take exit 149 from I-40, go north about 4 miles to turnoff to ASRP, follow pavement west until you reach the range.

Time – Registration begins at 0900. Firing starts at ~0930.

Registration Procedure – First, pick up a target frame. Come to the 100 yard range immediately east of the range house for the match. Please sign in on the match/league signup sheets. When the line at the Range Office has dwindled to a reasonable length please sign in and pay the Park fee (separate from league fees). Print your name on the back of your receipt. The match director will collect receipts. Firing will begin when all competitors are signed in and ready to fire. If you have your own portable frames please bring them!

Fee – Match fee is $1 for Sandia members, $2 for non-Sandia members, and free to juniors and collegiates. There is no league fee.

Insurance – SGC members are covered by the Club’s insurance. Non-members pay an additional one dollar ($1.00) per match fee to register as a SGC “match member.”

Rules – Current NRA Conventional Smallbore Prone and 3P rifle rules will apply (league is not NRA approved). Additionally, an F-Class or Unlimited Rifle category has been created, and they will not compete directly with shooters using complying equipment. Any safe .22 caliber rimfire rifle may enter the F-Class category. Telescopic sights may be used for all stages, and rests and sandbags will be allowed. Please contact the match director if you have questions.

Course of fire – either prone or 3 position
Prone Match will be conducted at 50 and 100 yards. Match is one-hundred twenty (120) shots for record. Time is 20 minutes per target card (20 shots), including unlimited sighters during that period.
Stage 1 – 40 record shots, 50yds, iron sights (50 meters reduced, target A51)
Stage 2 – 40 record shots, 100yds, iron sights (100 meters, target A-33)
Stage 3 – 20 record shots, 100yds, any sights + 20 record shots, 50yds, any sights (Dewar) (50 meters reduced, target A51, 100 meters, target A-33)

3 position will be conducted at 50 yards. Match is 60 shots for record; 20 in each position (prone, standing, kneeling). Time is 20 minutes per target card (20 shots) for prone and 30 minutes for standing and kneeling, including unlimited sighters during that period. 3P shooters can continue shooting prone for a total of 120 shots if desired.
Stage 1 – 20 record shots prone, 50 yds, iron sights (50 meters reduced, target A51)
Stage 2 – 20 record shots standing, 50 yds, iron sights (50 meters reduced, target A51)
Stage 3 – 20 record shots kneeling, 50 yds, iron sights (50 meters reduced, target A51)

Awards – No awards will be given.

Targets and Frames – The league will provide a target frame and targets (A-51 and A-33). Participants may provide any special frames they require. Participants will need their own stapler and staples and tape or clips to secure targets to frames on windy days.

Note that shooters have a choice of shooting sling prone, F class prone, or 3 position (prone, standing, kneeling). Mike Felton, manager of the Albuquerque Shooting Park has assured me we will continue shooting at the 100 yd range, although during any construction we may have to adjust somewhat. So come on out and shoot with us

DescriptionSandia Gun Club High Power Rifle League When: Second (2nd) Sunday of each month Set-up Begins at 8:45AM Where: Albuquerque Shooting Range Park, (505-836-8785) Take exit 149 from I-40, go north about 4.3 miles to turnoff, then west for about 3.7 miles to the Park. Description: NRA High Power Rifle match, all stages shot at 100 yards. Course of fire – Match is eighty (80) shots for record at 100 yards. Before each stage, shooters will have a two (2) minute period to fire two sighting shots. Stage 1 – Standing, 20 record shots, slow fire, SR-1 target Stage 2 – Sitting, 20 record shots, rapid fire, SR-1 target Stage 3 – Prone, 20 record shots, rapid fire, SR-21 target Stage 4 – Prone, 20 record shots, slow fire, MR-31target Garand and 03-A3-type firearms will use the SR-1 target for all stages. Firearms and Classifications: Current NRA high power rules apply. Accommodations will be made as much as possible to encourage participants to use any safe, military-type firearm (to include modern optics, etc) that will fit the course of fire outlined above. Already have NRA High Power rifle classification: Bring your equipment and plan to shoot. New HP Rifle Shooters: The match format and distance are ideal to introduce new high power rifle shooters (including juniors) to the sport in a disciplined, safe way. Assistance/coaching is available at no charge. After the match: Match usually ends about noon. We have lunch together at an Albuquerque restaurant. For new shooters, this is a good time to ask questions and get more information.
