Register by March 1 for free shooting seminar
First-time and novice shooters will have opportunities to fire revolvers, shotguns and lever-action rifles at a free First Shots seminar March 15 at the Founders Ranch Shotgun Sports range near Edgewood.
Participants must register by March 1 at FRShotgunsports@gmail.com or by calling (505) 934-2533. The free day-long seminar will begin at 10 a.m. at the Founders Ranch south of Edgewood off N.M. 217.
The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will provide ammunition and trained shooting coaches for the event, which is geared mostly to inexperienced shooters of all ages who would like to try shooting sports in a safe environment.
As a bonus, instructors will introduce participants to the exciting sport of Cowboy Action Shooting at the ranch’s Western Town. The Bernalillo County 4-H Shooting Sports Club will offer hamburgers, hotdogs and Frito pies for $6.
First Shots is a National Shooting Sports Foundation program designed to create safe and responsible new shooters and increase participation at shooting ranges. Clubs or ranges interested in hosting a seminar can visit www.nssf.org/firstshots/ for more information.
